This Japanese healing method known as Reiki describes both energy and a non invasive healing technique used to promote healing and relaxation through channeling energy via gentle touch. This is a great add on for postpartum recovery and more.
Picture this: I arrive for our session together around 11am and first check to see if you have had anything to eat or drink yet today. You say no, so right after washing my hands I start cooking you something yummy and nourishing to eat with a tall glass of water on the side. While you eat, I hold your baby and there is time to talk about you: how you are feeling, any questions or concerns and what you need from our time together today. I answer any questions you have and you decide a long, hot, uninterrupted shower is at the top of the priority list. While you shower, I keep an eye on baby and tidy up the house: putting dishes in the dishwasher, fluffing up the pillows, taking care of any laundry that needs to be folded. Feeling a bit more refreshed after your shower, you are due for a nice, long nap. You snuggle baby while I make you your favorite cup of tea. I draw the shades and trade you a steaming mug of your favorite herbal tea for your sweet baby. If you are chest/breastfeeding, I promise to wake you when baby needs to eat or will otherwise take care of giving them a bottle. As you get cozy in bed, I make sure your water is filled, your phone is charging nearby, and see if there is anything else you'd like. You take a long, deep nap and when you wake up I bring you a tray of your favorite snacks to graze on in bed. You feel relaxed, held, and a little bit more connected to yourself and your body. I check in to see if there is anything else you need in our remaining time together to feel set up for the rest of the evening and you ask me to prep some food in the fridge for dinner. With dinner ready to be thrown in a pan and cooked, the house tidy and parent and baby rested & fed, I head home until I see you again next.
